The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday, when officers, who were overseeing the dismantling of attractions from the San Isidro festivities, observed two males leaving the park. Noticing that one of them had a bloodied face and clothing, medical assistance was requested.
The victim stated that he and a companion had been approached by another young man who made gang hand signs and demanded they 'lower the flag,' a common provocation tactic among rival gangs. Immediately after, the victim received a punch to the face and was hit with a bottle, while a larger group appeared and stole his mobile phone and a speaker before fleeing.
Based on the description of the alleged perpetrators, the Municipal Police located a group on Vicente Quesada street that matched the description. These individuals attempted to evade the officers, who activated their lights and sirens.
Finally, six individuals were apprehended at the intersection of Ervigio street and Tercio street. The detainees confessed to the assault and robbery, and the victim's belongings were later found discarded in the park.
The detainees, born between 2005 and 2009, include three Spanish nationals, one Venezuelan, one Honduran, and one Ecuadorian. The minor was taken to the Juvenile Unit (GRUME) and picked up by his parents.
The victim, born in 2003, expressed his intention to file a complaint against the assailants, who face charges of robbery with violence and serious disobedience to security agents.
