Seven awards recognize contribution to fine arts in Madrid

The Reina Sofía Museum, the Veronese exhibition at El Prado, and Madrid City Council among the winners at the VII Art and Business Awards.

A total of seven awards have been presented at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, honoring public and private institutions for their contribution to Spanish fine arts.

The Reina Sofía Museum, the exhibition dedicated to Paolo Veronese at El Museo del Prado, and the Madrid City Council have been honored at the seventh edition of the ARS Magazine Art and Business Awards. The ceremony took place this Monday at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza.
These awards, designed by Chus Burés, aim to recognize the contribution of public institutions and private entities to the development of fine arts in Spain and abroad. Categories ranged from best national and international exhibition to patronage, acquisition of Spanish art, idea, restoration, and donation.
'Veronese at the Prado Museum' exhibition was recognized as the best national exhibition. This show gathered over a hundred works by the Venetian master, whose influence extended to artists such as Rubens, Velázquez, Delacroix, and Cézanne. The award was received by Miguel Falomir, exhibition curator and director of the Prado Museum, from Javier Solana, president of the institution's Royal Board of Trustees.
In the international category, the jury awarded the retrospective 'Gerhard Richter', organized at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, highlighting the foundation's commitment to relevant artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. The exhibition covered over six decades of the German artist's career, exploring the image, memory, and perception.
Eulen Art, the division of Grupo Eulen dedicated to art and cultural heritage, received the Patronage Award for its decade of comprehensive services in exhibition projects and heritage management.
The Casacuberta Marsans Collection was recognized for the acquisition of 'Christ on the Cross', a work by El Greco, currently exhibited at the Hospital de St Saver in Barcelona.
The Casa de Alba Foundation received the award for best idea for opening the Liria Palace to contemporary art on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
The Madrid City Council was honored with the Best Restoration Award for the intervention in the Palacio del Capricho and the maintenance of its gardens, a BIC (Asset of Cultural Interest) complex that has been renovated with an investment exceeding 6 million euros. Its public opening is planned for 2027.
Finally, the Reina Sofía Museum received the Best Donation Award for incorporating 249 pieces by 42 artists, many of them women, valued at over three million euros. Among the works are legacies from Juan Genovés and pieces by Soledad Sevilla and Juan Uslé.
