The start of the 2026-2027 school year in San Sebastián de los Reyes commences with all its public and state-subsidized educational centers prepared. A total of 12,779 students are enrolled, according to updated data from the Madrid-Norte Territorial Area Directorate. Of these, 10,874 are studying in the public system and 1,905 in the state-subsidized sector.
The municipal public network includes five first-cycle nursery schools with 513 students, in addition to centers for Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training. Among the institutes with the highest student numbers are IES Joan Miró (1,405), IES Juan de Mairena (1,238), and IES Gonzalo Torrente Ballester (878). In earlier stages, CEIP Miguel Delibes (730) and CEIP Tempranales (703) stand out. In the state-subsidized network, Trinity College hosts 1,842 students and Mi Cole has 63.
Concurrently with the academic start, the City Council has completed a 600,000 euro works plan, executed during the summer. These interventions, approved in June, have included improvements in all centers to enhance security, renovate facilities, and adapt spaces, promoting greater educational inclusion.
Among the most significant actions are the renovation of locksmith work at CEIP San Sebastián, the replacement of carpentry in the infant building of CEIP Fuente Santa, the consolidation of perimeter walls at CEIP Silvio Abad, and the adaptation of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) classrooms at CEIP Antonio Machado.
Other improvements include the replacement of the air conditioning system at the La Locomotora Nursery School to optimize thermal comfort and energy efficiency, the installation of lifeline systems and safe roof access at CEIP Tierno Galván, and resin treatments on the wall floor at CEIP Francisco Carrillo.
These works, planned to minimize impact on educational activities, ensure that buildings begin the term in optimal condition, prioritizing safety, conservation, comfort, and accessibility.
