Rehabilitation works on the pedestrian overpass connecting Ramón y Cajal Hospital to San Modesto street in Madrid will begin this Monday, causing disruptions to traffic and public transport.

Starting Monday night, rehabilitation works will commence on the pedestrian overpass linking Ramón y Cajal Hospital with San Modesto street. According to the Madrid City Council, these actions will necessitate the closure of the structure's access stairs until at least July 15th. Pedestrians will be required to use an enabled ramp to cross the elevated walkway.
During nighttime hours, specifically between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM, the left lane of the service road connecting the M-30 to the hospital center in the outward direction will be closed. This restriction will remain in place as the work progresses.
Public transport will also be affected. The bus stop located in the area will be temporarily relocated. Furthermore, the closure of the access ramp will impact night bus lines N-701 and N-702. These service modifications could extend until August.
The intervention, carried out by Madrid Calle 30 with an investment of approximately 415,000 euros, aims to reinforce structural safety and extend the lifespan of the overpass section crossing over the service road of the M-607. This section provides access to the hospital's teaching pavilion and outpatient area.
The works include the repair of concrete and metal elements, replacement of deteriorated parts, renovation of the lighting system, and the implementation of structure monitoring systems. As this is the most heavily used overpass on the entire M-30, most of the work will be conducted at night.
This phase will complete the comprehensive rehabilitation of the infrastructure. In 2023, the main section crossing the M-30 and connecting to the La Vaguada area was already replaced.
