The Community of Madrid has strengthened its emergency response teams by adding 200 new Civil Protection volunteers, who will be integrated into 48 municipal groups after successfully completing a training course.

These new members have successfully completed a basic 110-hour training course, including 40 hours of practical exercises, provided by the Institute for Comprehensive Training in Security and Emergencies (IFISE). The Director General of the Madrid 112 Security and Emergencies Agency (ASEM112), Pedro Antonio Ruiz, presided over the diploma award ceremony.
The training center, recognized as an international benchmark, covered ten thematic modules. These addressed crucial areas such as communications, first aid, traffic regulation, emergency vehicles, fire support, self-protection, intervention in mass casualty incidents, legislation, psychosocial support, and logistics.
The instruction was delivered by professionals from various security and emergency corps within the Community of Madrid, including Civil Protection personnel, Firefighters, the Madrid 112 Emergency Center staff, SUMMA medical personnel, and local police officers.
With these new additions, the total number of Civil Protection volunteers in the region now stands at 3,420, spread across 113 municipalities. Their duties include supporting other emergency and security services, developing and maintaining civil protection plans, and participating in preventive operations and public awareness campaigns.
Furthermore, these volunteers can join the Immediate Logistics Response Team for Civil Protection Volunteers in Emergencies (ERIVE), which currently comprises 100 members prepared to mobilize within an hour to support other emergency and security services.
