Autonomous communities led by the Popular Party have decided not to attend the Sectoral Conference on Childhood and Adolescence, convened by the Ministry headed by Sira Rego, to address the controversial reception of migrant minors, arguing that the current legal framework has expired.

The boycott, confirmed by sources from the Community of Madrid's Ministry of Family, Youth and Social Affairs, is attributed to their "coherence" and "respect for legality." They assert that the meeting was "illegally convened today" by the central Government with the sole aim of "prolonging the forced distribution of minors as if they were packages, against their will and without legal coverage."

"The Community of Madrid will not participate in Pedro Sánchez's reckless migration policy (...). This is an illegal summons because the agenda was rejected in the previous sectoral commission by the majority of autonomous communities."

Minister Ana Dávila further stated that the one-year term of the decree for the forced transfer of minors, which the Community had challenged in court, has already expired. Therefore, she believes there is "no legal coverage to continue with this outrage against regional competencies and human dignity," accusing the Government of wanting to remain "the last transporter for mafias."
The regional Executive of Isabel Díaz Ayuso had already informed the Government of Spain that it would not accept new transfers of unaccompanied migrant minors under Royal Decree-Law 2/2025, considering that the extraordinary relocation mechanism has lost its legal validity after the expiration of the foreseen deadlines.
