In an event held in Alcalá de Henares, Mayor Judith Piquet, accompanied by the General Secretary of the PP of Madrid, Alfonso Serrano, reviewed the three years of her government's mandate. The visit, which included a tour of various works and infrastructures, served to highlight the investments made and the urban recovery policy promoted by the municipal executive.
The first stop was the Nuestra Señora de Belén car park, inaugurated in January with 350 spaces. Piquet noted that the plot, previously a degraded area, has been transformed into a useful facility for the neighborhood. The mayor summarized the management philosophy as action in the neighborhoods, improved mobility, and connection with the Historic Center.
The renovation of Avenida de Guadalajara, budgeted at 1.7 million euros, was another key point of the tour, presented as the most visible image of the urban regeneration policy. According to Piquet, the city plans to mobilize nearly 75 million euros in urban investments, a figure the local government considers the greatest investment effort in decades.
The delegation also visited Cuatro Caños square, the works on Teniente Ruiz street, and the renovated Cervantes square. The main message was the showcasing of completed works, aiming to balance investments between the center and the neighborhoods. Piquet also recalled the tax reduction, amounting to five million euros, as a hallmark of the popular party's management.
Alfonso Serrano, for his part, described the transformation of Alcalá de Henares as exemplary, stating that what has been achieved in these three years "could justify more than one term." He highlighted the Luis Vives car park, the Cervantes square, and the future development of Roca, as well as the city's cultural dimension, mentioning the Noche en Blanco and its role as a heritage reference.
The popular party leader also linked municipal management to the regional investments of the Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, mentioning the future transport interchange and the Plan Vive housing program, to present a regional and local administration working in the same direction.
On the national political front, Serrano took the opportunity to criticize the Government of Pedro Sánchez and demand accountability on issues related to the Ministry of the Interior. He contrasted the "stability" of the popular party's project with the "internal conflicts" of the PSOE, alluding to leadership problems within the socialist organization.
Regarding the air conditioning of schools, both Serrano and Piquet pointed out that the massive installation of air conditioning presents jurisdictional and technical limitations. Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Serrano expressed confidence that the PP would achieve a better result than in 2023, indicating that the electoral campaign has already begun.
