The Ramón y Cajal University Hospital has joined the ‘Pianos for Health’ initiative, a program designed to improve emotional well-being in healthcare environments through music.

This project, driven by the Musicians for Health Foundation with support from the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda, aims to install accessible pianos and organize concerts within hospitals.
The program's launch event featured performances by several artists. Pianist and composer Julio Mazziotti presented his original works, while Francisco Fierro and Mario Fierro offered a repertoire blending classical pieces and original compositions. The jazz group Jazznívoros concluded the event with a concert honoring jazz legends.
The event was attended by representatives from the healthcare sector, experts in patient care humanization, and musicians involved in integrating culture into health settings. The opening remarks were delivered by David Pestaña Lagunas, Head of Anesthesia and Resuscitation at the hospital, with participation from Celia García Menéndez, Director General of Humanization, Care, and Patient Safety for the Community of Madrid.
During the gathering, the guidelines of the Healthcare Assistance Humanization Plan and public hospital volunteer initiatives were presented. Subsequently, representatives from the foundation and the hospital spoke, with the event being closed by Carlos Mingo Rodríguez, manager of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital.
This initiative coincides with the fifth edition of Piano City Madrid, an international piano festival. In this context, the La Paz University Hospital will also participate in the programming, offering free concerts for patients and their families through its collaboration with the organizing body and the Musicians for Health Foundation.
