The events took place on August 21st near Méndez Álvaro and the Adif freight stations of Abroñigal and Santa Catalina. Officers from the Madrid Municipal Police apprehended a man who, besides lacking a driving license and testing positive for cocaine, initiated a high-speed escape.
The police operation began around 8:24 AM on Méndez Álvaro street when the driver was spotted using his phone. Upon attempting to stop him, the individual accelerated rapidly, reversed abruptly, and broke through a barrier to enter the Adif de Abroñigal freight station.
Subsequently, the suspect drove against traffic on a section of the M-30 during peak hours and at high speed, also evading a police checkpoint on Embajadores street.
Following a chase through several streets, the man abandoned the vehicle at the Adif de Santa Catalina station and attempted to flee on foot towards the train tracks. An officer fired a warning shot into the air in an open area.
Finally, officers apprehended the individual, born in Georgia in 1988, as he tried to discard items he was carrying. He faces charges for crimes against road safety, assaulting a police officer, resistance, and disobedience. It was confirmed he did not possess a driving license and was in Spain illegally.
