The renowned actress and singer Paloma San Basilio was honored this Friday with the Fuente de Castalia Award in Alcalá de Henares, an accolade recognizing her contribution to classical theater.

The City Council of Alcalá de Henares, as part of the Clásicos en Alcalá festival, presented this award to the artist. The prize, named after the mythological fountain that inspired ancient Greek poets, annually distinguishes creators, companies, and institutions dedicated to the promotion and revival of classical theater.
The award ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Community of Madrid, Mariano de Paco Serrano, and took place at the Teatro Salón Cervantes. During his speech, the significant artistic career of San Basilio, widely recognized in the cultural sphere, was highlighted.
San Basilio is also participating in the festival's 25th edition with the play Dulcinea, offering a contemporary, intimate, and human interpretation of one of Spanish literature's most iconic characters.
With this recognition, the artist joins a list of awardees that includes prominent figures such as the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico, Núria Espert, Rafael Álvarez “El Brujo”, Laila Ripoll, and José Luis Alonso de Santos.
