The plan for the festivals of San Lorenzo, San Cayetano, and La Paloma, held in the Centro District, will involve nearly 1,300 security personnel and 400 cleaning staff, as explained by the deputy mayor of the capital, Inma Sanz. The operation will be deployed in stages between August 4th and 17th.
Approximately 1,150 Municipal Police officers will be mobilized, including reinforcements from other districts and the Aerial Support Section with drones. These uniformed officers will be accompanied by plainclothes officers to prevent illegal street vending and theft.
The Samur-PC (emergency medical service) will have over a hundred health workers deployed across more than 40 units, including basic and advanced support ambulances, rapid intervention vehicles (VIR), and foot teams (ECOS) for agile deployment in crowded streets.
Street cleaning services and the Urgent Cleaning Service (Selur) will contribute over 400 workers and 166 mechanical means. Aro bins, portable toilets, and 800-liter containers will be installed to facilitate waste management.
The deployment will be larger during the La Paloma festival, the most crowded, with over 425 municipal police officers. The San Lorenzo and San Cayetano festivals each had 360 officers.
Police operations focus on prevention, community policing, and coordination between municipal services, including precise traffic diversions near the festival venues.
The San Cayetano festivities proceeded normally, with two arrests and around twenty medical interventions, mostly for dizziness, sprains, or alcohol intoxication. The deputy mayor is confident that the San Lorenzo celebrations will continue in the same manner.
