The incident occurred on Friday night at a jewelry store located on Pico de Artilleros Street. Officers responded after receiving an alert from the security alarm center and a call from a neighbor reporting loud banging noises in the building.
The suspect had gained access to an adjacent building and, using a master key, entered the meter room. From there, he created a hole in the wall to try and enter the jewelry store. Security cameras inside the establishment captured the individual's hand reaching through the opening.
Upon the officers' arrival, the man exited the meter room, attempting to pretend he was working on an installation. However, among his tools were a wrench, a crowbar, and a flashlight, all commonly used for such break-ins.
Officers confirmed that a small hole had already been made in the wall leading to the jewelry store. Inside the premises, police found the suspect's mobile phone. Ultimately, the individual, a Spanish national born in 1978 with previous similar offenses, was arrested for attempted robbery with force.
Although the detainee did not manage to steal any items from the jewelry store, police sources suggest he might have inadvertently left his mobile phone inside the establishment before attempting to enter himself, only to be intercepted by the Police.
