The management of the Ifema Madrid Executive Committee has confirmed that the track will be ready in just over a month to host the Spanish Grand Prix, scheduled from September 11th to 13th, 2026. This announcement was made during the presentation of the institution's economic results.
Although the main infrastructure of the circuit will be finished by May 25th, the assembly of additional elements such as grandstands, hospitality areas, and final touches will continue from June. The management explained that these works will extend until the last week before the event to ensure a complete experience.
“"I didn't want to create a race, but an experience that is good for Madrid."
The management emphasized that Formula 1 represents a much broader brand and business opportunity than the sporting event itself. The goal is to position Ifema Madrid as a premium brand capable of hosting major international events, raising the city's profile in the global market for congresses and trade fairs.
The project is part of Ifema's current strategic plan, which already included attracting Formula 1 as one of its main pillars. The operation has been entirely financed with Ifema's own generated resources, without the need for external funding, highlighting a growth from 80 to over 200 million euros since 2020 due to improved economic efficiency.
The strategy combines accessibility with a high-level offering, anticipating grandstand tickets for less than 100 euros and 21 VIP hospitality spaces for enhanced experiences. It is expected that 80% of attendees will use public transport, with direct metro connection from the airport, positioning Madrid as a modern city in terms of mobility.
“"95 million people watch it on television."
The enormous international exposure of the event, with 95 million television viewers, will strengthen Madrid's image as a host for major global events and attract new business opportunities, generating additional fairs and congresses.
