The Deputy Mayor and spokesperson for the Madrid City Council, Inma Sanz, has strongly criticized Más Madrid for its stance on the 2026 waste fee, labeling it "hypocrisy" and defending the legality of the municipal process.

Sanz responded to Rita Maestre's political group, which has requested the annulment of the tax, arguing that it reproduces defects previously pointed out by the Justice system in the previous ordinance. The Deputy Mayor assured that the City Council has rectified all prior deficiencies and that the current procedure is "correct".

"If they truly believe it is unfair, they should go there to claim it."

From the Prado 30 building, Sanz reiterated that the implementation of this tax was not a decision of the City Council, but an imposition by the central Government. Therefore, she challenged Más Madrid and the PSOE to join the Government team to jointly request the repeal of the fee from the Ministry of Finance.
The Deputy Mayor's reaction comes after Más Madrid filed a lawsuit against the new waste fee, approved for the year 2026. The opposition group insists that the ordinance again incurs processing errors and deficiencies in the economic justification of the tax, aspects that were already subject to judicial reprimand in the previous regulation.
