The Community of Madrid has welcomed 200 new Civil Protection volunteers, who will join 48 municipal groups after successfully completing their basic training course. The Director General of the Madrid 112 Security and Emergencies Agency (ASEM112), Pedro Antonio Ruiz, presided over the diploma award ceremony at the Institute for Comprehensive Training in Security and Emergencies (IFISE).
These volunteers acquired the necessary knowledge at the IFISE, a center considered one of the best in Europe and an international benchmark in the field. Their training comprised a total of 110 hours, including 40 practical hours divided into 10 modules covering transmissions, first aid, traffic regulation, emergency vehicles, fire support, self-protection and intervention, multiple-victim incidents, legislation, psychosocial support, and logistics.
All disciplines were taught by professionals from the security and emergency services of the Community of Madrid, including civil protection officials, firefighters, personnel from the Madrid 112 Emergency Center, the Medical Emergency Service (SUMMA 112), and local police forces.
With the integration of these new members, the total number of volunteers in the region rises to 3,420, spread across 113 municipalities. Their functions within the municipal groups will include supporting other emergency and security services during interventions, and developing, implementing, and maintaining the operational readiness of civil protection plans.
Furthermore, they can join the Immediate Logistic Response Team of Civil Protection Volunteers for Emergencies (ERIVE), which is currently accepting new members. This team consists of 100 individuals prepared for urgent mobilization within a maximum of one hour to provide logistical support to other emergency and security services, both for activated Civil Protection plans and for ordinary or extraordinary emergencies.
