The summer swimming pool season in Madrid kicked off last Friday, May 15th, although initial temperatures and rain marked the inaugural day, which was free as in previous years. Of the 25 pools announced by the City Council, 22 are now open to the public, while the facilities at Santa Ana in Fuencarral, Moscardó in Usera, and Vallecas will open in early June after ongoing construction is completed.
The general opening hours for most municipal pools will be from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Prices remain unchanged from the previous year: a full-day ticket costs 4.50 euros for adults, with reduced options of 2.25 euros for morning (10:00 AM-3:00 PM) or afternoon (4:00 PM-9:00 PM) sessions. The season will extend until September 6th.
The municipal pools of Aluche, Blanca Fernández Ochoa, Casa de Campo, Cerro Almodóvar, Concepción, El Quijote, Entrevías, Hortaleza, José María Cagigal, La Elipa, Margot Moles, Mistral, Moratalaz, Paseo de la Dirección, Plata y Castañar, San Blas, San Fermín, Palomeras, Luis Aragonés, Orcasitas, Peñuelas, and Vicente del Bosque opened on May 15th. The pools at Santa Ana, Moscardó, and Vallecas will join from the first week of June.
In addition to outdoor pools, indoor heated pools with solarium areas will be available. The City Council has detailed the prices by age group: free for under 5s, €2.70 (children 5-14 years), €3.60 (youth 15-26 years), €4.50 (adults 27-64 years), and €1.35 (seniors 65+) for a full session. Morning or afternoon sessions are half price.
Ticket reservations can be made online up to 49 hours in advance via the Madrid Móvil app or the municipal website, with 80% reserved for digital sales and 20% for ticket offices. Ten-session passes will be offered, with prices ranging from 12 euros for seniors to 40 euros for adults.
As a new feature, a free 30-minute 'express classes' program of aquatic physical activity (water aerobics, aquafitness, etc.) will be implemented without prior registration, from Monday to Friday. Free basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) workshops for adults will also be offered.
Meanwhile, the three swimming pools of the Community of Madrid in the capital (Canal de Isabel II, San Vicente de Paúl, and Parque Deportivo de Puerta de Hierro) also open from May 15th to September 6th. The general price remains €5 per entry and €40 for a ten-swim pass, with discounts for children, large families, seniors over 65, and holders of the Community of Madrid Youth Card. Access is free for individuals with recognized disability (and their companions), children under 3, and victims of terrorism.
Tickets for the Community of Madrid pools can be purchased through the Sports Activities Portal or the DEPORTESCM app, with a maximum of four tickets per user per day. 10% are reserved at the ticket office for seniors over 65 and individuals with recognized disability. The opening hours are continuous from 11:00 AM to 7:45 PM.
