The Community of Madrid has managed to reduce its healthcare waiting lists during the month of April compared to the previous year, according to official data from the Department of Health.

The average waiting time for surgical interventions has reached 46.65 days, representing a 6.3% decrease compared to April 2025 figures. This figure remains significantly below the national average, which stands at 121 days according to Ministry of Health records.
Regarding external consultations, the average delay has dropped to 61.17 days, an 8.1% year-on-year improvement. Likewise, the waiting time for diagnostic tests has fallen by 12.8%, standing at 53.9 days compared to the 61.8 recorded last year.

The data demonstrates the capacity of the Madrid public health system to continue improving its performance even under adverse conditions.

These results were achieved in a context marked by the doctors' strike against the Ministry of Health. According to the regional government, this situation has led to the cancellation of more than 174,000 consultations and the loss of 8,400 surgeries since December, affecting ordinary healthcare activity.
