The Community of Madrid has launched nearly 200 new Transport Card vending machines across 71 Metro stations, featuring a more modern and accessible design for all users.

These devices are part of the first phase of a modernization project for the ticket sales system, which plans for the installation of an additional 145 units by 2027. The goal is to progressively extend this new model throughout the entire Madrid subway network.
Among the most notable improvements is an optimized user interface that simplifies ticket selection, including frequent destinations and tourist attractions with images. This feature is designed to facilitate use, especially for tourists and those less familiar with the system.
Regarding accessibility, the new machines incorporate a natural language interaction system, allowing users to state their destination directly without navigating complex menus. They also feature an induction loop for people with hearing impairments and payment options adapted to current accessibility regulations.
Starting in the last quarter of the year, additional functionalities will be activated, such as a camera for remote assistance via video call and a 42-inch high-definition screen. These machines also improve working conditions for maintenance personnel, thanks to systems that facilitate access to components and automated machine opening, which speeds up interventions.
The investment in this technological renovation exceeds 9 million euros and is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds.
