Madrid launches awards to recognize contribution of foreign companies and professionals

The initiative aims to highlight the positive impact of international investment and talent on the economic, social, and cultural development of the capital.

The Madrid City Council, through the Economy, Innovation and Finance Department, has approved the public call for the Awards for Recognition of Foreign Companies and Professionals, an initiative that seeks to value the contribution of international investment and talent to the city's development.

These awards, whose first edition will be held in 2026, recognize the honorary contribution of foreign companies based in Madrid and foreign professionals who, through their activity, significantly contribute to the international projection and competitiveness of the capital.
The city has consolidated itself in recent decades as one of Europe's leading economic and business capitals, thanks to its institutional stability, quality of life, business dynamism, and international vocation. Foreign investment and international talent are now fundamental drivers of growth and modernization of Madrid's productive fabric.
With these awards, the Madrid City Council expresses its recognition to those companies and professionals who generate quality employment, promote innovation, foster knowledge transfer, and strengthen the city's global positioning.
The call includes two main categories—recognition for foreign companies and for foreign professionals—with a total of six subcategories. In the first, aimed at companies, international business leadership, strategic collaboration, and sustainability with local impact are distinguished. In the second, focused on professionals, global professional leadership, the role of international connector, and commitment to sustainability are recognized.
Applications can be submitted by foreign companies based in the city of Madrid and by non-Spanish professionals who carry out their activity in the capital. Likewise, any natural or legal person, including the Madrid City Council itself, may propose candidates. The application period will be one calendar month from the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Madrid City Council, which will be next Monday, May 4, ending on June 4. Applications should preferably be submitted through the municipal electronic headquarters.
A jury, composed of representatives of the Madrid City Council and people of recognized prestige in the business and professional fields, will decide the awards among the submitted candidacies. The awards ceremony will be held on October 21. The award winners will receive personalized recognition in a public ceremony.
