The Spanish capital is preparing to host FUJIKINA 2026, the European photography festival promoted by Fujifilm, which will take place on May 23 and 24 at the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM), establishing itself as a meeting point for the photographic community.
This event, which has already visited cities such as Berlin, London, and Stockholm, is becoming one of the most relevant events in the sector in Europe. FUJIKINA inherits the spirit of the historic Photokina fair in Cologne, adapting it to a more contemporary and experiential format, focused on proximity to the community.
“
"We try to seek closeness with the people who collaborate with us, thus emphasizing that photography is not only the thematic axis, but the very identity of the project."
The program of FUJIKINA Madrid 2026 will offer a dynamic space over two days with conferences, practical talks, workshops, live demonstrations, photo walks, and experimentation zones. Attendees will have the opportunity to try out state-of-the-art equipment—from premium compact cameras to large format systems—with the support of specialized technicians.
Confirmed participants include prominent figures in contemporary Spanish photography, along with other profiles that bring diverse approaches. The festival's aim is to create an accessible environment where the exchange of experiences is as important as the exhibition of new products.
“
"It's a brand that got involved in my project from the very beginning. They create community and support you in a very human way."
In addition to the main days, FUJIKINA extends over time with an exhibition program that will be activated from April 28. The first of these exhibitions will be curated by Matías Costa, and will be complemented by a second exhibition planned for June, seeking to create a dialogue between different perspectives and generations of photographers.
The collaboration with PHotoESPAÑA and Fundación MAPFRE reinforces the cultural dimension of the event and its support for emerging talent. Through programs like “Discoveries,” the festival becomes a platform to give visibility to new photographers, enabling them to present their work to industry professionals. This year's winning project will also receive Fujifilm equipment as a boost to its development.
The event maintains a strong commitment to accessibility, offering many free activities to facilitate the participation of a broad and diverse audience. Madrid is not only the setting, but its symbol, the carnation, becomes a representative element of the event, strengthening its link with the local context. FUJIKINA Madrid 2026 is presented as an experience that combines exhibition, training, experimentation, and community, reflecting the evolution of photography as a discipline and offering a space to reflect on its role in contemporary society.
