The Spanish capital pays tribute to Jorge Luis Borges with a new exhibition tracing his most decisive years, inaugurated at the Eugenio Trías Municipal Library.

The figure of Jorge Luis Borges is brought back to life in Madrid through an exhibition that invites visitors to explore some of the most decisive years of his literary career. The exhibition 'Borges. Years of Literary Splendor' was inaugurated this Thursday at the Eugenio Trías Municipal Library, located in the former Casa de Fieras in El Retiro park.
This exhibition, which can be visited until July 9th, offers an intimate look at the period when Borges consolidated the style that transformed Spanish-language narrative. Through manuscripts, historical publications, and first editions, visitors can delve into the creative laboratory of the Argentine writer.
The tour focuses on the period between 1939 and the early 1950s, a particularly fertile stage in the output of the Buenos Aires author. During these years, some of the stories and literary concepts that would eventually make him a universal reference in fantastic literature were born.
The exhibition is structured into three thematic areas: his personal sphere and cultural environment, his writing processes through original drafts, and the dissemination of his texts with historical copies of the magazine Sur and first editions.
Furthermore, the exhibition incorporates a sound dimension with podcast-format narratives that recreate the atmospheres and conversations of the era, composing an immersive portrait of the context in which the writer developed much of his most influential work.

"The exhibition allows us to discover both the human and artistic dimensions of Borges, understanding the intellectual and artisanal work behind some of the most relevant texts in contemporary Spanish literature."
