Councilor Carlos Novillo presided over the tribute, which included a public colloquium within the bullring. Subsequently, a commemorative tile was unveiled, installed in the lower section of the first tier, thus immortalizing the bullfighter's figure.
With this recognition, Ortega Cano joins the bullring's permanent gallery, sharing space with other bullfighting legends who already have their own mosaic. These include names such as Andrés Vázquez, Paco Camino, Luis Miguel Dominguín, and Curro Vázquez, who received a similar honor last May.
This tribute celebrates a professional career full of successes, notably his four exits through the Puerta Grande of Las Ventas, one of the highest honors a bullfighter can achieve in this historic Madrid bullring.
This is a recognition of a professional career in which the bullfighter has achieved significant successes.
Ortega Cano attended the event accompanied by his three children: Gloria Camila and José Fernando, from his relationship with Rocío Jurado, and José María, born from his relationship with Ana María Aldón.
