The Community of Madrid has added three new trails to its Green Routes network, providing easy access to the natural landscapes of the Sierra Norte via interurban buses from Madrid.

This expansion brings the total number of available routes to 55, all designed to promote sustainable tourism and reduce reliance on private vehicles. The new paths, located in Bustarviejo and Manzanares El Real, are directly connected to the Plaza de Castilla transport hub.
The first new option is a 25.6-kilometer trek following the historic Cañada Real Segoviana. This route links Bustarviejo to Manzanares El Real, passing through ecologically significant areas such as the Hoya de San Blas and the surroundings of the Santillana reservoir.
For those interested in history and geology, a 12-kilometer circular route to the Mondalindo Peak has been opened, starting in Bustarviejo. The trail passes by the historic silver mines of the Cuesta de la Plata, a key site in the industrial heritage of the Central System.
Lastly, the network now includes the Vuelta al Yelmo, a circular route in La Pedriza that circles the famous granite formation. The initiative aims to provide healthy and environmentally friendly leisure options, with full technical details available on the official Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid website.
