The Community of Madrid has launched a new aid program with 500,000 euros to fund projects for the conservation of natural heritage and biodiversity, to be executed during 2026 and 2027.

The call for applications, published on May 25th in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid, is exclusively aimed at non-profit associations and foundations registered in official registries. Applications can be submitted electronically.
Selected proposals may receive 100% funding, with a maximum limit of 30,000 euros per project and 60,000 euros per applicant entity. Each initiative must be completed within a maximum of twelve months from its approval.
Project evaluation will particularly consider methodological innovation, actions targeting protected species, and those developed within the Natura 2000 network of the European Union.
In 2025, the Community of Madrid funded 20 initiatives from 16 entities, enabling studies on habitat fragmentation, threatened flora, and bat populations. Previous projects focused on protecting amphibians, wildcats, the European roller, stone-curlews, and nocturnal raptors, in addition to studies on game species and environmental education.
