Miguel Ángel García Martín, regional Minister of Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration, has reiterated the demand to the Ministry of Justice for more positions to be announced. The region currently has over 1,500 interim appointments that cannot be made permanent without a structural offer of positions from the Central Government.
During a visit to the construction site of the future City of Justice, García Martín emphasized that Madrid cannot continue to operate with temporary staff. He criticized the current situation, stating that a significant portion of daily work in the courts relies on temporary appointments rather than career civil servants who have passed their competitive examinations.
“"It is not reasonable that the Madrid judicial workforce rests on such a fragile foundation."
The authority to announce new positions lies with the Central Executive. Only after such an announcement can the Community of Madrid fill these roles with stable personnel. García Martín insisted that the region is doing its part, but the Ministry must activate a sufficient offer to meet the workload of the judicial bodies.
The Madrid regional government has conveyed this demand on several occasions, with García Martín explaining that he has sent letters and written communications to the Ministry of Justice without receiving an adequate response. He reproached Pedro Sánchez's Executive for not prioritizing the strengthening of the judicial system.
The minister also hardened his political tone, accusing the Central Government of being more concerned with intervening in the Judiciary than with providing it with resources. According to García Martín, this attitude stems from the pressure generated by corruption cases affecting the Socialist Party and the Executive itself.
