The Delegate for Culture, Tourism, and Sport of the Madrid City Council has stated that the San Isidro festivities are proceeding smoothly in terms of security, with no major incidents to report. Speaking from the Vistillas Gardens, she emphasized that attendees are enjoying the celebrations of the capital's patron saint in a tranquil atmosphere.
However, the delegate urged the Government Delegate in Madrid to "get serious" following the stabbing that occurred in the Legazpi area. She criticized the central government representative's response, while acknowledging the personal responsibility of those committing such crimes, and stressed the need for the issue to be addressed more decisively.
“"I believe this is not being taken seriously enough because he is more concerned with other matters, and Madrid needs more attention than what we are receiving."
The municipal official reiterated that the solution must come from "those who have the operational capacity to deal with this matter," a situation that causes concern for both citizens and the Madrid council.
She also reproached the Government Delegate for his apparent lack of concern regarding episodes of violence affecting the city during the festivities.
