The Community of Madrid wraps up its May 2nd Festivities 2026 program with a day dedicated to Spanish cultural diversity, featuring a National Folklore Encounter and a film screening.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Community of Madrid has planned a festive closing for the May 2nd Festivities 2026, focusing on the richness of Spanish cultural heritage. The final day will combine folk performances from various regions with a proposal that merges live music and cinema.
From 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM, the Puente del Rey esplanade will host the First National Folklore Encounter. Organized by the Flamenco and Folklore Dance Protection Association, this event will allow attendees to admire traditional costumes and historical attire from different communities. The program includes performances by Los Mimbrales de la Fuente and Coros y Danzas Mazantini from Castilla-La Mancha, the Ballet Folclórico de Madrid from the Community of Madrid, the Grupo de Danzas San Rafael-Alcaria from Andalucía, and Nobleza Baturra from Aragón.
Sunday afternoon will have a distinct Galician flavor with the presence of the Rondalla Santa Eulalia de Mos. This group from Pontevedra, awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit, is known for its versatility, performing everything from traditional Galician and Portuguese melodies to rock hits. At 7:30 PM, the group will begin a street parade with a varied repertoire including pieces like «Tempo de Rondallas» and «Xota de Alvite», as well as rock and reggaeton covers. The band gained international recognition after their rendition of AC/DC's «Thunderstruck» went viral, a video that inspired filmmaker Daniel Sánchez Arévalo.
As a grand finale, at 9:00 PM, the film Rondallas (2025) will be screened. Directed by Sánchez Arévalo and starring Javier Gutiérrez and María Vázquez, the film tells the story of a fishing village that tries to regain hope through its rondalla after a tragic shipwreck. The film also features Tamar Novas, recently nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Goya Awards for his role in this work.
All activities will take place at the Puente del Rey Esplanade, with free admission until full capacity, from 12:00 PM until the end of the film, approximately at 11:00 PM.
