Among the highlighted activities, the Community of Madrid presents ‘Madrid en el Cielo’ (Madrid in the Sky), a free spectacle featuring one thousand drones launched from Parque de la Cuña Verde in the Latina district. This 12-minute show is expected to be visible from up to two kilometers away, reaching an altitude of 200 meters.
The display, designed in collaboration with Indra and executed by the Madrid-based company Umiles, will represent ten scenes and up to sixteen figures inspired by the region's history, symbols, and cultural heritage. Projected images will include the autonomous community map, the regional flag, the figure of Goya, and a partial recreation of The 3rd of May 1808.
Additionally, the Madrid sky will depict recognizable landmarks such as Puerta del Sol with Kilometer 0, the Crystal Palace, the El Escorial Monastery, the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, and the University of Alcalá de Henares. The show will also include references to Madrid's cultural identity, such as a chotis dance, the capital's transformation, and a Metro train arriving at a station.
Historical memory will be prominently featured at the Madrid Wax Museum, located at Paseo de Recoletos, 41. For May 2nd, the museum has designed an immersive and participatory experience centered on Francisco de Goya and the events of 1808, through its three-dimensional recreation of The 3rd of May 1808. Visitors will be able to learn about the social context of the era and the painter's artistic vision.
Outside the capital, San Sebastián de los Reyes will celebrate its 534th anniversary with a massive event at Parque de La Marina. The celebration will include the traditional caldereta stew, gastronomic contests, children's activities, exhibitions, and live performances, culminating in a free tasting of the popular stew.
