One of the main initiatives is free access to the Madrid Metro for users traveling with bicycles, a measure valid throughout the weekend to encourage the combination of both transport modes. This proposal aligns with the week's theme: 'Mobility for all'.
The regional government has organized a series of activities for professionals, companies, and citizens, aiming to highlight public transport services and future mobility projects. The Regional Ministry of Housing, Transport, and Infrastructure will deploy a mobile unit that will visit municipalities such as San Agustín de Guadalix, Móstoles, Torrelaguna, Alcalá de Henares, Pozuelo, and Tres Cantos.
This mobile unit will provide information on efficient mobility, offer bicycle and scooter maintenance workshops, and raise awareness about the risks of alcohol and drugs while driving. It will also feature virtual reality glasses and immersive modules for simulations.
In parallel, cyclist Miguel Indurain, a five-time Tour de France winner, will participate in an event promoting the benefits of combining cycling with the subway. Madrid Metro will offer free access with bicycles on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Other initiatives include the second edition of Bici Connection, organized by the Rey Juan Carlos University in collaboration with the Community of Madrid and the city councils of Fuenlabrada, Móstoles, and Alcorcón, which will connect university campuses via safe cycling routes.
The exhibition 'Bus Transport from 1928 to 2026' will be presented in Alcobendas, showcasing classic and modern buses from Casado Montes SL and historical units from EMT. Additionally, a caravan of hydrogen-powered vehicles will tour the region, connecting key locations like the hydrogen refueling stations in Algete, Coslada, Torrejón de Ardoz, and Manoteras.
These activities aim to showcase the evolution of transport, from traditional methods to the latest technologies, promoting safety and ease of travel throughout the region.
