This amount is close to the annual expenditure on public healthcare in Madrid, causing concern for regional finances. By mid-October of last year, the amount owed by the State since 2019 for services and provisions was already estimated at around 10.500 million euros.
In the tourism sector, Madrid is solidifying its position as an attractive destination for high-net-worth visitors. Tourists from Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia spend over 400 euros daily in the city, nearly double the general average. This trend occurs amidst increasing inequality within the capital.
The 'prime' office real estate market in Madrid is experiencing strong demand, leading to reduced space per worker and pushing rental prices to levels comparable with major European capitals like London. Concurrently, the Municipal Housing and Land Company (EMVS) of Madrid has opened the registration period for a lottery of 52 affordable rental public housing units, aimed at middle-income residents of Madrid, with a deadline of June 11.
