The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid gave its approval this Wednesday to a significant investment earmarked for scholarships for Baccalaureate and Vocational Training at both Intermediate and Higher Levels. This initiative, set to be implemented for the 2026/27 academic year, aims to support more than 30,000 students enrolled in subsidized and private educational institutions across the region.
The official call for applications will be published in the coming days in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM), at which point the application period will commence. Interested parties can consult all detailed requirements and procedures on the official website of the Community of Madrid. It is important to note that both scholarship programs offer the possibility of extension for subsequent academic years, provided that the initial granting conditions are maintained and the beneficiary reapplies.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Universities has allocated 43.5 million euros specifically for Baccalaureate scholarships, with the goal of reaching over 17,100 students pursuing this non-compulsory educational stage. For the second consecutive year, academic performance will be a factor in the evaluation, allowing applicants to add up to two additional points based on their final grade from the last completed course. To be eligible, it is essential not to have repeated a course and to be enrolled, or have a reserved place, in Baccalaureate at one of the centers included in the call.
The amount of these grants will be determined by per capita family income. Families with incomes up to 10,000 euros per member will receive 3,750 euros annually, while those with incomes between 10,000 and 35,913 euros will receive 2,000 euros. In any case, the scholarship cannot exceed the actual cost of the course if it is lower than the amount granted.
Additionally, 30.5 million euros will be allocated to Vocational Training scholarships, through which the Community expects to benefit approximately 13,000 students enrolled in training cycles at authorized private centers in the region, covering in-person, blended, and virtual modalities. The requirements are similar to those for Baccalaureate: being enrolled or having a reserved place for the full 2026/27 academic year, not having repeated a course, residing in the Community of Madrid, and not exceeding the per capita family income threshold of 35,913 euros.
For Higher Level students, annual amounts will range from 2,500 to 3,250 euros in the first year, depending on family income, and between 1,925 and 2,525 euros for the second and third years (the latter only applicable to double cycles). For Intermediate Level, students can receive between 1,659 and 2,765 euros per year. Furthermore, beneficiaries of the Minimum Insertion Income and the Minimum Vital Income will receive enhanced amounts, reaching 3,500 euros in the first year of Higher Level, 2,800 euros in the second and third years, and 3,000 euros annually in Intermediate Level.
