These agreements involve an annual investment exceeding 950,000 euros (952,015 euros) dedicated to the appointment and remuneration of referees, as well as the operation of disciplinary committees and the administrative support necessary for the proper development of competitions.
Over the entire period from 2026 to 2029, the projected total investment will surpass 2.8 million euros. This collaborative model with sports federations aims to consolidate the quality, technical rigor, and sustainability of the municipal program.
Since 1979, the Madrid City Council has continuously promoted the Municipal Sports Games, the Spring Cup, and other tournaments, establishing one of the most robust grassroots sports programs. These initiatives directly contribute to acquiring healthy lifestyle habits, fostering coexistence, and positive use of leisure time, especially among young people.
Currently, disciplines such as basketball, football, futsal, and volleyball concentrate a significant portion of this activity, involving 98,800 athletes and over 50,000 annual matches, highlighting the program's immense social and sporting impact on the city.
With these agreements, the City Council reinforces its firm commitment to grassroots sports, consolidating a model that not only guarantees the organization of competitions but also promotes values such as effort, inclusion, teamwork, and social cohesion across all districts of Madrid.
