The Community of Madrid has approved an investment of 2 million euros to provide complementary aid of up to 200 euros per month to students from its six public universities who benefit from an Erasmus+ scholarship during the 2026/27 academic year.

The Governing Council has authorized the necessary agreements with academic institutions for the management of these direct subsidies. The main objective of this initiative by the regional government is to alleviate the financial difficulties that Madrid students may face while studying or undertaking work placements abroad.
These regional grants will help cover essential expenses such as tuition fees, transportation, accommodation, and other costs associated with international mobility. The amounts will be uniform for all beneficiaries, regardless of their home university or destination country, and will be distributed based on the number of participating students from each institution.
Public universities will receive specific funding: Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) will receive 315,143 euros; Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC) 385,630 euros; Carlos III University (UC3M) 508,413 euros; Autonomous University (UAM) 212,824 euros; Polytechnic University (UPM) 359,254 euros; and the University of Alcalá (UAH) 218,736 euros.
To access this aid, applicants must be citizens of the European Union or candidate countries, or possess a residence permit in Spain. Furthermore, they must be enrolled in an official Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree program at one of Madrid's public universities and demonstrate sufficient language proficiency for the language of instruction, as well as meet any linguistic requirements set by the host institution.
The monthly amount of the aid, ranging between 150 and 200 euros, will be adjusted to the cost of living in the destination country. Universities will soon publish the calls for applications, aiming to ensure better financial conditions and equal opportunities within the Erasmus+ program.
