The Community of Madrid has announced a special operation that will include the activation of Level 0 of the Territorial Civil Protection Plan and the reinforcement of SUMMA 112. The installation of 18 structures with 162 water points is planned for areas with high visitor traffic.
The Minister of Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, detailed that a significant concentration of pilgrims is expected. Those in charge of the operation will continuously assess the need to raise the civil protection plan's activation level.
SUMMA 112 will coordinate direct medical assistance to the Holy Father and his entourage, as well as public health infrastructure. Over 560 healthcare professionals will be augmented by a specific team of commanders and special service personnel for coordination and care tasks during the various events.
Emergency response capacity will be increased with more managers in the Madrid 112 operations room. The Community of Madrid has also offered the support of the Immediate Logistics Response Team of Civil Protection Volunteers for Emergencies (ERIVE) to the City Council.
The Community of Madrid Fire Department will cover parks near the Joint Action Zone to enhance security. Meanwhile, Canal de Isabel II will install 18 water supply structures with 162 water points in Plaza de Lima, Paseo de la Castellana, and Plaza de Cibeles, in addition to two 'Water Truck' vehicles and 22 public fountains.
