The LEGO Group has unveiled the LEGO® Editions collection in Madrid, a collaboration with the FIFA World Cup 2026™ that merges construction and football with the Official Trophy and star player sets.

The iconic Legends: The Home of Football museum in Madrid served as the venue for the LEGO Group's unveiling of the LEGO® Editions collection today. This initiative marks an unprecedented collaboration between the LEGO Group and the FIFA World Cup 2026™, uniting the world of construction with global football passion.
The partnership, which began in December 2025 with the release of the FIFA World Cup™ Official Trophy in LEGO format—a 1:1 scale replica built from 2,842 pieces—expands in 2026 with a second phase featuring diorama sets starring four of the planet's top footballers.
The event allowed attendees to discover the nine products within LEGO® Editions, ranging from the Official Trophy to the Football Phenomena and Football Legend lines, featuring figures of Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Vini Jr.
During the event, a panel discussion moderated by Pilar Vilella, Brand Director France & Iberia for the LEGO Group, took place. Participants included Leonardo López, Design Manager for LEGO Editions, and Iker Casillas, legendary goalkeeper and 2010 World Cup winner with the Spanish National Team. Casillas was among the first to hold the LEGO Trophy in December 2025, alongside other football legends like Roberto Carlos, Cafú, Sami Khedira, and Marco Materazzi.
Leonardo López detailed the creative process, including months of research into each player's career and the final approval of the minifigures by the footballers themselves. He shared anecdotes, such as the initial design of Messi's minifigure with a beard, a detail the player eventually grew fond of.

"When I held the trophy in my hands, even though I know perfectly well it's made of LEGO bricks, it transported me directly to July 11, 2010. To Johannesburg. To the final whistle."

The collection features the FIFA World Cup™ Official Trophy in a 1:1 scale (2,842 pieces, 36 cm), containing an interior scene with the 2026 World Cup logo and an exclusive minifigure. The Football Phenomena sets capture memorable moments of Mbappé, Messi, Ronaldo, and Vini Jr., while Football Legend offers larger-scale figures of Messi and Ronaldo. The LEGO® Editions Lionel Messi – Celebration set is a 1,427-piece 3D wall art piece.
All sets are filled with hidden details, including nods to players' clubs, cultural references, and iconic career moments, with the footballers themselves involved in the design process and approving their minifigures.
The launch video for the second phase, featuring Ronaldo, Mbappé, Messi, and Vini Jr. building the trophy together, surpassed 239 million views, becoming a global viral phenomenon.
Vincent Plane, Country Manager of LEGO Group Iberia, highlighted the significance of the Spanish market, stating, "Spain holds a very special place in this story. This is a country that knows what it's like to win a World Cup, that lives football with unique intensity."
