The LEGO Group has unveiled its new product line, LEGO® Editions, in Madrid, the result of a historic collaboration with the FIFA World Cup 2026™. The event, held at Legends: The Home of Football, brought together sports legends and designers to present a collection that merges the global passion for football with the creativity of LEGO bricks.
The collection comprises nine products, notably the Official FIFA World Cup™ Trophy in LEGO format, a 1:1 scale replica built with 2,842 pieces. Sets inspired by world-renowned footballers such as Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Vini Jr. are also featured, capturing iconic moments from their careers.
“"When I held the trophy in my hands, even though I know perfectly well it's made of LEGO bricks, it transported me directly to July 11, 2010. To Johannesburg. To the final whistle."
During the presentation, Pilar Vilella, Brand Director France & Iberia for the LEGO Group, moderated a panel with Vincent Plane, Country Manager of the LEGO Group Iberia; Leonardo López, Design Manager of LEGO Editions; and former goalkeeper Iker Casillas. López detailed the meticulous creative process, including the approval of minifigures by the players themselves, while Plane highlighted Spain's significance in this collection, given its deep connection to football.
The LEGO® Editions line is designed for collectors and families, offering everything from footballer action figures to 3D mural artworks like the one dedicated to Lionel Messi. The global launch of this second phase was accompanied by a viral video starring Ronaldo, Mbappé, Messi, and Vini Jr., which garnered over 239 million views.
