The arrest took place in Madrid, just hours after a French court issued a sentence against him and other alleged leaders of the DZ Mafia. The arrested individual, a fugitive from justice since 2024, had an extensive criminal record and four European Arrest Warrants (EAWs) issued in France.
These warrants were related to his involvement in a double homicide committed in 2019 in Marseille, in the context of rivalries between drug trafficking gangs, as reported by the Police in a statement.
At the time of his arrest, the mafia leader was in possession of false documentation, a protective measure he used to avoid being located. The DZ Mafia is considered by the French Police to be the most relevant criminal organization due to its involvement in serious crimes such as drug and arms trafficking, as well as episodes of urban violence.
Although originally from the outskirts of Paris and Lyon, the gang has established itself in neighborhoods of Marseille and is linked to numerous armed clashes and contract killings that have generated significant public alarm in France.
