“"Pope Leo XIV's visit places Spain, and especially Madrid, in the focus of international tourism, with an increase in bookings close to 44% and a rebound in both rates and travel planning lead time. In this context, having technological tools that allow hoteliers to monitor demand in real-time, dynamically adjust prices, and optimize room distribution is key to maximizing revenue and adapting quickly to demand peaks generated by an event of this magnitude."

The upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV to Spain, scheduled for early June, has significantly boosted tourism activity, particularly in Madrid, where hotel bookings have seen a 43.8% increase between June 6 and 8.
This phenomenon, which places Spain in the international tourism spotlight, is reflected not only in the volume of reservations but also in the average daily rate. In the capital, the price per night reaches 281 euros, an 8.3% increase compared to the same period last year, when it stood at 259 euros.
The demand analysis, conducted by SiteMinder, also reveals a shift in traveler behavior. The average booking lead time has grown by 17.2%, from 92.9 to 108.9 days. This data highlights greater planning by visitors for a highly significant international event, a trend previously observed during visits by high-profile figures.
Beyond Madrid, other Spanish cities will also experience the impact of the papal visit. In Barcelona, where the Pope will be from June 9 to 10, bookings increase by 21.9%, although the average daily rate decreases by 6.1%, settling at 338.92 euros. In the Canary Islands, specifically in Tenerife, which will receive the Pontiff on June 12, there is a significant growth of 34.2% in bookings and a 12.4% increase in the average daily rate, reaching 185 euros.
