The central section of this underground line will remain out of service until the end of August due to renovation works linked to the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. This measure involves the total closure of Cuzco station, which had previously maintained operations for connections to the north of the city.
The metropolitan company will take advantage of this period to carry out waterproofing tasks on the infrastructure. Additionally, asbestos removal work will be performed in the station vault and technical rooms, with a total investment of 1.7 million euros.
To mitigate the impact on mobility, the free shuttle bus service departing from Plaza de Castilla will continue. Furthermore, Metro lines 1 and 9 have been reinforced, along with EMT bus services operating along Paseo de la Castellana, utilizing a fleet of ten vehicles with reduced headways.
Once these actions are completed in August, the service suspension on Line 10 will be limited to the section between Nuevos Ministerios and Cuzco until the end of the year. The comprehensive renovation project for the stadium area, involving a 66 million euro investment, aims to improve station accessibility and capacity by 2027.
