Each year, the Pottery Fair solidifies its position as one of the most significant exhibitions of popular ceramics and pottery in Spain. In its 44th edition, the event is integrated into the San Isidro festivities program, offering a unique opportunity to appreciate the work of artisans from various regions.
From May 14th to 17th, the Plaza de las Comendadoras will host numerous workshops showcasing unique pieces, from jars and plates to pitchers and fountains, suitable for both daily use and decoration. The exhibition and sales schedule will be continuous, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, allowing visitors to explore a wide variety of creations.
This year's central theme is animal pottery, an approach that highlights the representation of animals in ceramic tradition. Throughout history, birds, quadrupeds, and fantastic figures have been a constant source of inspiration for potters, resulting in symbolic and utilitarian pieces where nature takes center stage.
The program includes a thematic exhibition dedicated to animal pottery, where each participating workshop will contribute a unique piece representative of its area. Additionally, live demonstrations of pottery processes, such as clay kneading, turning, and decorating, will be held. On May 15th and 17th, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, there will be live wheel demonstrations by a workshop master from the Francisco Alcántara Official School of Ceramics.
For children, free introductory pottery workshops will be offered. These one-hour sessions, taught by master potters, will take place on the afternoon of May 14th (from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM) and on May 16th during the same hours.
