The regional Executive has approved a credit increase of 3.5 million euros to bolster the 'Pueblos con Vida' program. This initiative, aimed at financing modernization, refurbishment, and architectural beautification projects, focuses on towns with populations under 20,000.
With this contribution, the overall budget for this development strategy reaches 10.5 million euros, directly benefiting 136 municipalities in Madrid. Each Town Council will receive a minimum transfer of 30,000 euros, with subsidies potentially rising to 200,000 euros for municipalities with up to 5,000 residents and 300,000 euros for those with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants.
The authorized interventions include the renovation of facades and roofs of municipal heritage buildings, the redevelopment of streets and squares, the installation of urban furniture, and the undergrounding of overhead power and telecommunication lines. Previous projects have involved renovations in Ajalvir, Miraflores de la Sierra, Batres, Estremera, Colmenar del Arroyo, and La Hiruela.
In parallel, 28.4 million euros have been allocated for the renewal of public infrastructure through the Regional Investment Program (PIR) 2022/26. Over the past two and a half years, the regional administration has launched 1,018 municipal projects, mobilizing over 558.7 million euros.
