The Community of Madrid has expressed its dissatisfaction with the central government's handling of the hantavirus crisis, particularly regarding the transfer of Spanish citizens to a Madrid hospital.

Statements from the regional president, made in an interview, highlight what she considers a "lack of control" in the actions of the ministries involved, especially between Health and Defense. The "absolute confusion" generated by the "different versions" offered by ministerial officials is criticized.

"What we see is absolute confusion. This very morning, the Government of the Canary Islands said it was totally against the ship docking directly on the coast. But, above all, we also see that each minister is giving different versions about what to do with quarantines, about what the Government will do with all this, the fact of choosing or not choosing Gómez Ulla."

Although the regional president expressed her "total confidence" in the region's Health System and hospitals, she questioned the lack of information regarding the criteria for choosing Madrid as the destination for those affected and the quarantine situation. "What I do not agree with is not knowing why it is Madrid or under what criteria," she stated, emphasizing the governmental "lack of control."
Meanwhile, the opposition in the Community of Madrid has argued that the central government maintains "permanent contact" with regional administrations, accusing the regional council of "lying" about the lack of communication. However, sources from the council insist they were not informed prior to the minister's press conference.
The spokesperson for the Government of the Community of Madrid had already voiced criticisms, demanding more information and coordination with the affected regions, the Canary Islands and now Madrid. Passengers are expected to arrive at the port of Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife, in the coming days, to be evaluated and subsequently transferred to the Torrejón de Ardoz air base and, finally, to the military hospital in Madrid.
