The event, celebrated every May 18, aims to bring cultural heritage closer to all audiences. Participating venues include the Lope de Vega House Museum, the Picasso Museum-Eugenio Arias Collection, the Nuevo Baztán Interpretation Center, the Dos de Mayo Art Center Museum (CA2M), the Archaeological and Paleontological Museum of the Community of Madrid (MARPA), and the Cervantes Birthplace Museum.
In the Barrio de las Letras, the Lope de Vega House Museum will open exceptionally on Monday, May 18. For Saturday, it has scheduled the theatrical route 'Letters and Swords through the Barrio de las Letras', by the Vataria company. Visitors will be able to explore the streets of this historic enclave accompanied by characters from the Golden Age.
In Buitrago del Lozoya, the Picasso Museum-Eugenio Arias Collection will offer the family workshop 'My Picasso Museum' on Saturday. On Sunday, it will present 'Titiriscopio', a small-scale theater show that narrates the friendship between Pablo Picasso and his barber.
The Nuevo Baztán Interpretation Center will host the concert 'Music for Flute and Violin in Enlightenment Spain' on Saturday, performed by the Effimera ensemble in the church of San Francisco Javier. On Sunday, a traditional esparto spinning workshop will be held, a technique declared a Cultural Interest Asset (BIC).
The CA2M Museum in Móstoles will present three temporary exhibitions: 'Between Heaven and Earth', by Antonio Ballester Moreno; 'Minor Architecture', by Esther Partegàs, and 'Again and Again', by Dorothy Iannone.
Regional museums in Alcalá de Henares, such as the MARPA and the Cervantes Birthplace Museum, will join the celebration with extraordinary openings until midnight. The MARPA will offer the show 'Apollo. Art and Myth' on Saturday and a paleontology workshop on Sunday. The Cervantes Birthplace Museum will organize a participatory activity under the theme 'Museums Uniting a Divided World', where visitors can leave messages of peace.
