Judith Piquet, who holds the presidency of the Federation of Municipalities of Madrid (FMM) and the mayorship of Alcalá de Henares, actively participated in the Cities Forum held at IFEMA Madrid. During her speech, Piquet emphasized the need for innovation that is 'useful, close, and people-serving,' considering it a fundamental tool for enhancing the quality of life in the towns and cities of the Community of Madrid.
At the opening of the session dedicated to innovation, the FMM president underscored the value of the event as a platform for sharing experiences, exchanging knowledge, and finding practical solutions to the current challenges faced by the region's cities and towns. "Innovation is no longer a future option, but a present necessity for all our municipalities," stated Piquet.
Piquet clarified that innovation is not limited to adopting technology but also encompasses providing better services, more efficient management of public resources, and simplifying administrative procedures for citizens. She advocated for municipal transformation that reaches "all corners of the territory," acknowledging the diversity of the Community of Madrid and the different realities between urban centers and rural areas.
Finally, she highlighted the region's role as a driver of growth and investment attraction, attributing this success to policies based on "freedom, collaboration between administrations and companies, administrative simplification, and trust in the municipalities' capacity to transform their environment."
