Twenty young people from Madrid, selected for their academic performance and social commitment, will embark on an educational trip to Egypt from June 20th to 30th as part of the Madrid Xplora initiative.

The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, bid farewell this Monday at the Real Casa de Postas to the 20 students who will participate in the first edition of Madrid Xplora. This educational program, promoted by the regional government, will allow them to visit Egypt between June 20th and 30th.
During the meeting, Ayuso encouraged the students to be "Madrid's best ambassadors" in the African country, highlighting the participants' connection to the region and the role they will play during the expedition. The head of the regional executive emphasized that the experience will provide young people with the opportunity to discover Egyptian history and culture, as well as foster self-discovery and personal challenge-facing.
Madrid Xplora, promoted by the Ministry of Family, Youth and Social Affairs, aims to recognize the academic merit and social commitment of Madrid residents aged between 16 and 17. In this first call, 169 projects were received from over a hundred educational centers in the region. The selected projects addressed current issues such as the risks of social media use, mental health, and environmental protection, presented in formats including essays, audiovisual productions, and podcasts.
Accompanied by a team of 12 professionals, the young people will visit historical sites such as the pyramids of Giza, the temple of Karnak, and the Valley of the Kings. The program also includes sports and adventure activities, such as kayak trips on the Nile River and desert camping. To be eligible, students had to have passed all subjects in compulsory secondary education or vocational training and hold the Carné Joven (Youth Card).
The initiative is supported by various institutions, including the Assembly of Madrid, the Senate of Spain, the Higher Sports Council, the Spanish Geographical Society, the National Archaeological Museum, and the Higher Council for Scientific Research.
