Users of Cercanías Madrid will be affected this Friday, July 31, by a strike called by the Railway Union at Renfe, which will reduce services during peak hours to 75% and to 50% for the rest of the day.

The strike day, unilaterally called by the Railway Union, will impact the Cercanías Madrid network, as well as high-speed and medium-distance services nationwide. The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has established minimum services to ensure partial coverage.
According to information provided by Renfe, Cercanías trains will operate at 75% during peak hours (from 6 to 9 AM, 1:30 to 3:30 PM, and 6:30 to 8:30 PM). During the rest of the day, operations will be reduced to 50%.
High-speed trains will maintain a minimum service of 73%, while Medium-Distance trains will operate at 65%. These percentages do not guarantee the circulation of all trains not included in the minimum services, as their operation will depend on the actual participation in the strike by employees.
Cercanías Madrid has recommended that travelers check updated schedules before their journey. The company indicated via the social network 'X' that "Cercanías service may present modifications in passage frequency" and advises checking information on the Cercanías App, at stations, or by calling 912 320 320.
This is the third strike day called by the Railway Union in the last month, following two previous calls with less than 3% participation. The union is protesting what it calls "the dangerous situation" on board trains, attributed to "deficiencies in the air conditioning systems" amidst the current heatwave. The call affects all intervention and driving staff collectives of Renfe Viajeros nationwide.
