The Hispania Nostra association is commemorating its 50 years of activity with an exhibition at the Official College of Architects of Madrid, a journey through five decades dedicated to the protection and promotion of cultural and natural heritage in Spain.

The exhibition, titled 50th Anniversary of Hispania Nostra. Half a Century of Action in Defense of Cultural and Natural Heritage, will be open to the public in Madrid until May. Afterwards, it will embark on a tour of different cities across the country, aiming to bring the entity's work closer to a wider audience.
This initiative is part of a broader commemorative program that includes conferences, legal meetings, and publications. The organization seeks not only to review its history but also to encourage reflection on the value of heritage as an element of collective memory and key to understanding contemporary society.

"It is a value that we must all protect."

Ernest Urtasun · Minister of Culture
The inaugural event was attended by the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, who highlighted the cooperation between administrations in heritage conservation and the essential role of entities like Hispania Nostra in engaging society.
The exhibition presents heritage as a dynamic element, linked to the territories and communities that preserve it. It uses audiovisual and interactive resources to explore the relationship between culture, identity, and society, emphasizing the importance of involving new generations in its care.
The tour also highlights key initiatives of the entity, such as the Hispania Nostra Red List, created in 2007 to identify endangered assets and promote their recovery, as well as the Hispania Nostra Awards, which recognize exemplary projects in heritage conservation.

"This exhibition proposal serves both to recognize the progress made and to remind us that heritage protection remains an ongoing challenge."

With this initiative, Hispania Nostra aims to disseminate the principles that have guided its activity since its foundation: the consideration of heritage as a common good, citizen involvement in its defense, and the need to transmit these values to future generations. The exhibition is supported by the ACS Foundation, Acción Cultural Española, and the collaboration of COAM.
