The prospect of the former general secretary of the PSOE in Madrid, who also served as spokesperson in the Madrid Assembly, once again vying for party leadership has generated considerable interest. This declaration follows his previous resignation, which stemmed from his refusal to question the regional president about a financial matter involving her partner, due to doubts about the accuracy of the information.
Following his departure, the national party leadership appointed a minister as his successor, aligning with the strategy of positioning allied figures at the helm of regional branches. Now, the current spokesperson and Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function has expressed a positive view on his predecessor's potential candidacy.
“"He has every right in the world to run. Moreover, he has an obligation to run if he believes he has a better project. In the PSOE, people vote, there are primaries, and therefore, whoever wants to must take the step."
The current spokesperson emphasized that any party member's decision to run in the primaries should not be interpreted as a challenge to the current leadership. He argued that any party member with a project they believe to be positive has not only the right but also the obligation to present themselves, leaving the final decision to the members, as has always been the tradition within the party.
