According to the Superior Police Headquarters of Madrid, the incidents took place on Saturday night. The alleged burglars employed techniques such as silicone threads and plastic markers on door frames to ensure residents were absent before proceeding with the robberies.
In the capital's incident, two of the suspects were caught by officers while attempting to flee the building after committing the burglary. The swift police action led to their immediate arrest.
In Leganés, the suspects were located thanks to a physical description provided by an eyewitness. One of the perpetrators was found hiding in the attic of the property where the assault had occurred.
In both cases, officers seized a significant amount of tools specifically used for committing burglaries, as well as items stolen from the homes. All five detainees have been handed over to the judicial authorities.
