An exhibition reinterpreting the traditional Madrid botijo, featuring works from the Moncloa Municipal Ceramics School, is on display at Matadero Madrid as part of the San Isidro 2026 Festivities.

The exhibition ‘The Revisited Botijo’, included in the program of the San Isidro 2026 Festivities, was visited by the delegate of Culture, Tourism and Sport. The show features creations by students from the Moncloa Municipal Ceramics School, offering a fresh perspective on this iconic object.
Located at the Central de Diseño de Matadero Madrid, the exhibition will be open to the public until May 17. It brings together pieces by 50 emerging ceramists who have reinterpreted the botijo, a distinctive element of Madrid's popular culture, from a contemporary viewpoint. This approach aims to establish a dialogue between tradition, craftsmanship, and artistic creation, using the botijo as a starting point to explore new aesthetic languages.

"The botijo is one of those simple objects that are part of Madrid's sentimental memory. The exhibition demonstrates how our traditions can continue to inspire new forms of creation and highlights craftsmanship as a bridge between the past and the contemporary vision of young artists."
